I love monsters. Monstrosity is a concept that’s important to me. As a transfeminine¬†person, monstrosity is a label forced on me by transmisogyny. As a nonbinary person, monstrosity is a position¬†I choose to reclaim as an alternative to maleness or femaleness. Monsters are a potent symbol, the unknowable adversary that stands against and in contrast to humanity. But also I just think monsters are cool as hell, so what.

Full disclosure on this one: I love the zombie genre. I know it’s played out. I know it’s become saturated with mediocre stories. I know its popularity boom a few years ago has made everyone pretty sick of zombies by now. One might say that the zombie genre has been destroyed by a lurching horde of bad zombie stories. It’s almost like some kind of… apocalypse.

Not many people know this, but I used to have a webcomic of my own. It probably goes without saying that it was awful. One of the things I tried, and miserably failed, to do with this never-to-be-named comic was shade with brush pens, a technique I had seen other, better artists pull off with gorgeous results.
